TA132 Hypercholesterolaemia - ezetimibe: review update - August 2011
Proposal to defer the review
The planned date for review of the above guidance was August 2010.
This is the date at which the Institute decides whether sufficient new evidence has emerged for the Appraisal Committee to be asked to undertake a full review appraisal.
Since publication in November 2007, the recommendations of TA 132 have been incorporated/cross referenced within the clinical guidelines on familial hypercholesterolaemia (CG71), and lipid modification (CG67) which are due to be reviewed in 2011. The technology appraisal remains extant from the clinical guideline and the funding direction for recommendations within the technology appraisal has been preserved.
In September 2010, NICE deferred the review to June 2011 in order to coincide with the considerations of a review of both CG71 and CG67. Since this was communicated, the reviews of both clinical guidelines have been rescheduled. It is now anticipated that the review decision for CG71 will be known by August 2011, and CG67 known by September 2011.
Consequently we propose that the consideration to review the original guidance be deferred until October 2011 to coincide with the consideration of a review of both CG71 and CG67. At this point the evidence base will again be assessed to ascertain the need for a review of the existing technology appraisal guidance.
