Hypercholesterolaemia - ezetimibe: review decision - November 2010
Review of NICE Technology Appraisal Guidance No 132; Ezetimibe for the treatment of primary (heterozygous-familial and non-familial) hypercholesterolaemia
Decision to defer the review
The planned date for review of the above guidance was August 2010.
This is the date at which the Institute decides whether sufficient new evidence has emerged for the Appraisal Committee to be asked to undertake a full review appraisal.
Since publication in November 2007, the recommendations of TA 132 have been incorporated in the clinical guidelines on familial hypercholesterolaemia (CG71), and lipid modification (CG67) which are due to be reviewed in 2011.
The Institute has carried out a search for information relevant to this appraisal, and has found that to the best of its knowledge, no new evidence has been published that would have a material effect on the original guidance.
Consequently Guidance Executive has decided that the consideration to review the original guidance will be deferred until June 2011 to coincide with the consideration of a review of both CG71 and CG67. At this point the evidence base will again be assessed to ascertain the need for a review of the guidance.
