TA102 Conduct disorder in children - parent-training/education programmes: review proposal - March 2011
Review of NICE Technology Appraisal Guidance No. 102; Parent-training/education programmes in the management of children with conduct disorders
Proposal to update the existing guidance into an upcoming clinical guideline
In January 2009 we informed consultees and commentators of the decision to defer the consideration of a review of Technology Appraisal 102; Parent-training/education programmes in the management of children with conduct disorders until it was known whether the Clinical Guideline on ‘The recognition, identification and management of children and young people with conduct disorders’ would be referred to the Institute. This Clinical Guideline has now been referred and is currently in development.
As part of the review consideration process, the Institute decides whether sufficient new evidence has emerged for the Appraisal Committee to be asked to undertake a full appraisal review.
Having re-looked at the guidance and the possible scope for a review, we believe that this topic would be better dealt with within the context of the aforementioned clinical guideline. Consequently we propose that the review of the original guidance TA102 be updated within the clinical guideline “Conduct disorder in children and young people: Recognition, identification and management of conduct disorder in children and young people”, currently in development.
In order to be completely confident that this is appropriate, we are asking all relevant consultees and commentators, to inform us of any evidence which will help us decide the best way to update this guidance. Please see appendix A for a full list of the organisations we have contacted.
