PH33 Increasing the uptake of HIV testing among black Africans in England: slide sets

Two presentations have been developed to support both the Increasing the uptake of HIV testing among black African communities in England guidance and the Increasing the uptake of HIV testing among men who have sex with men guidance from NICE. One slide set features key recommendations for clinical practice and is developed to support healthcare professionals in general practice and secondary care settings who are not specialists in HIV testing or treatment. A second slide set has been developed for those who are involved in the commissioning or strategic planning of sexual health services, which  features an overview of all of the recommendations from both pieces of guidance.

Alongside the slides, you will find a table that outlines clinical indicator diseases for adult HIV infection and is kindly reproduced from the UK National Guidelines for HIV testing, British HIV Association (2008). It is recommended that presenters download and print a copy of this table for reference during their presentations.

This slide set and notes for presenters provides a framework for discussing the NICE guidance with a variety of audiences and can assist in local dissemination of the guidance. The presentation includes a ‘questions for discussion’ slide which can be used to increase opportunities for participation and interaction with an audience. The slide set can also be tailored for local audiences and circumstances.

Please note that the slide set contains key messages – it does not cover all recommendations.
