MTG4 BRAHMS copeptin assay to rule out myocardial infarction in patients with acute chest pain: understanding NICE guidance

NICE has assessed the BRAHMS copeptin assay to help the NHS decide whether to use this product.

The BRAHMS copeptin assay is a blood test. When used along with other investigations, it may be able to help doctors tell whether or not someone has had a heart attack. It has the potential to reduce the time it takes for doctors to work this out. NICE has said that at the moment the test is promising, but that there is not enough evidence on how it would affect NHS services for it to be used routinely. NICE has recommended that more research on the BRAHMS copeptin assay is done.
