Summary:
The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has issued full guidance to the NHS in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland on open femoro-acetabular surgery for hip impingement syndrome.
Description:
Hip impingement may restrict movement of the hip joint and can be painful. It may be caused by an unusual shape of the hip socket (the acetabulum) or of the head of the thigh bone (femur). Surgery involves removing cartilage or bone, with the aim of reshaping the hip joint.
