Summary:

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has issued full guidance to the NHS in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland on laparoscopic radical prostatectomy.

Description:

This procedure is used to treat localised prostate carcinoma. It involves the insertion of a laparoscope and a four trocars through the abdominal wall. The prostate, adjacent tissue and lymph nodes are separated and removed and the urethra reconnected.
