Summary

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has issued full guidance to the NHS in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland on Catheterless oesophageal pH monitoring.

Description

A procedure of placing a wireless capsule in the gullet sending data to an external monitor that checks the level of acid which can cause symptoms of heartburn and acid regurgitation.

G16.3 Diagnostic fibreoptic insertion of Bravo pH capsule into oesophagus

Excludes: When associated with general fibreoptic examination of upper gastrointestinal tract (G45.3)

or

G19.2 Diagnostic endoscopic insertion of Bravo pH capsule using rigid oesophagoscope

Excludes: When associated with general fibreoptic examination of upper gastrointestinal tract (G45.3)

or

 G45.3 Fibreoptic endoscopic insertion of Bravo pH capsule into upper gastrointestinal tract
