Referral guidelines for suspected cancer
Recommendation 1.7.4 in this guideline has been updated and replaced by the recommendations in section 1.1 in Ovarian cancer: the diagnosis and initial management of ovarian cancer (NICE clinical guideline 122; published April 2011)
The NICE clinical guideline on referral for suspected cancer will help general practitioners (GPs) make decisions about when to refer people to specialists when they present with symptoms that could be caused by cancer. This guideline is not about treating cancer.
Responsibility for undertaking a review of this guidance at the designated review date has passed to the National Collaborating Centre for Cancer. The National Collaborating Centre for Primary Care is no longer active.
